Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kenya has been ranked number 106 out of 117 countries when it comes to internet speed, quality and growth.<\/p>\n

This is according to the World Digital Quality of life index 2022 report.<\/p>\n

When it comes to speed, stability and growth, Kenya\u2019s internet is at 34 per cent worse than the global average.<\/p>\n

Compared to South Africa, mobile internet in Kenya is 2 times slower while broadband is 3 times slower.<\/p>\n

However, since last year, mobile internet speed has improved by 14 per cent (3.1Mbps) while broadband speed has grown by 8.5 per cent (1.5 Mbps).<\/p>\n

The report revealed Singapore has the fastest internet speed in the world with mobile speeds of up to 104 to 261 Mbps.<\/p>\n

Seven of the 10 highest-scoring countries are in Europe, according to the 2022 global overview report conducted by Surfshark\u2019s Digital Quality of Life (DQL) Index.<\/p>\n

In terms of internet affordability, Kenya ranked 93rd out of 117.<\/p>\n

\u201cResidents can buy 1GB of mobile internet in Kenya for as cheap as 7 minutes 34 seconds of work per month. This is 13 times more than in South Africa,\u201d the report read.<\/p>\n

Out of the five fundamental digital life pillars, Kenya\u2019s worst score is for internet quality<\/p>\n

While the best is for e-infrastructure (61st).<\/p>\n

Kenya\u2019s e-security comes 74th, as well as e-government, and internet affordability 93rd.<\/p>\n

Kenya ranked 5th in Africa out of 10 participating countries.<\/p>\n

Democratic Republic of (DRC), Ethiopia, Mozambique, and Cameroon are the bottom five African countries.<\/p>\n
