Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President William on Friday met with security chiefs at the State House, Nairobi.<\/p>\n

This is the first meeting with the bosses since he was sworn in as the President of the Republic of Kenya.<\/p>\n

“Hosted senior military officers led by the Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, General Dr Robert Kibochi, State House, Nairobi,” Ruto tweeted.<\/p>\n

The details of the meeting were not revealed.<\/p>\n

The meeting comes after changes were made in the security sector within Ruto appointing Japheth Koome as the next Inspector General of police.<\/p>\n

This was after Hillary Mutyambai took a terminal leave as DCI’s George Kinoti resigned.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Ruto appointed Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki as the Interior CS and Aden Duale as the Defence CS.<\/p>\n

They are expected to replace outgoing CSs Fred Matiang’i and Eugene Wamalwa respectively.<\/p>\n

Earlier on Friday, acting deputy director of the DCI Hamisi Massa took over Kinoti’s mandates.<\/p>\n

He will act as the Director for 14 days.<\/p>\n

\u201cMassa will be the DCI in an acting capacity until the position is filled substantively and competitively in at least 14 days,\u201d Commission chairman Eliud Kinuthia said.<\/p>\n

Massa stepped in as the DCI is in the process of recruiting a new Director.<\/p>\n

The chiefs who met with the President are part of the National Security Council.<\/p>\n

According to the Constitution, Ruto is the NSC chairperson.<\/p>\n

The members include the Attorney General, Chief of Defence Forces, Inspector General of the National Police Service, Director General of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and the Cabinet secretaries for Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n

Alfred Mutua was nominated as the Foreign Affairs CS.<\/p>\n
