Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has hinted at conducting a fresh round of online revision lessons for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates.<\/p>\n

Babu brought his intentions to light after sharing a video capturing his previous lessons.<\/p>\n

Underneath, he wrote a crisp message that read: \u201cComing soon. Don\u2019t miss this.\u201d<\/p>\n

The firebrand legislator has previously taken students through mathematics and chemistry lessons amid criticism from various quarters.<\/p>\n

In 2020, Babu received a warning from the basic education principal secretary Belio Kipsang who accused him of exposing learners to unauthorised content.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll the content of learning delivered to students must be approved by the KICD, whether for online learning or physical learning. And every teacher must be qualified,\u201d Kipsang said then.<\/p>\n

He, however, equally received compliments from the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) honcho Ezekiel Mutua.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat Hon. Babu Owino is doing is an inspiration to all of us and especially the youth to know that education is not just for passing exams. It\u2019s an asset to navigate life,\u201d Mutua had said then.<\/p>\n

\u201cBabu Owino can step in and save the world if there were no teachers. He deserves a global award,\u201d added Mutua.<\/p>\n

The United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF) lauded Babu’s efforts in teaching secondary school learners through social media.<\/p>\n

In a past interview with the Voice of America (VOA), the MP said his kind gesture was meant to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic that kept learners away from school.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am doing this to keep the students busy during this time when they are out of school. The good book (Bible) warns that an idle mind is the devil\u2019s workshop.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am also sure that these lessons are timely for Form Four students who will be sitting their national exams later this year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Babu possesses a first-class degree in Actuarial Science which deploys mathematical and statistical methods to calculate risks in insurance, finances and other relevant sectors.<\/p>\n

He sat his KCSE exams at Kisumu Boys High School where he scored an A- minus of 79 points.<\/p>\n
