Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>KCB coach Curtis Olago said his side will be aiming to improve on setpiece and kick-chase game ahead of the start of the Kenya Cup season at the end of November.<\/p>\n

The five-time Kenya Cup winner said the side is energised and ticking the boxes as they embark on the pre-season with the aim of going all out to reclaim their title.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are a couple of areas we struggled with last season, notably our setpiece and kick-chase. The technical bench and I have identified the areas we believe we could have done better,\u201d said Olago.<\/p>\n

KCB lost to Menengai Oilers 24-17 in the Kenya Cup semifinal and lost 9-6 to Kabras in the Enterprise Cup final to finish trophyless for the first time since 2014.<\/p>\n

Olago and the technical bench toured South Africa where they had interactions with the Western Province Rugby team in Cape Town.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt (the tour) was an eye-opener. We are always looking at improving ourselves and getting pointers from the team down south, which we hope to use in our game,” observed Olago.<\/p>\n

The former international said the side is in transition with the stalwarts like former Kenya sevens skipper Andrew Amonde and Curtis Lilako hanging up their boots.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are in transition, bringing up a new generation of players to step into some huge shoes but I am confident they will adapt accordingly,\u201d added Olago.<\/p>\n

Amonde has joined the technical bench and was on the touchline during the national Sevens circuit where the bankers finished second to Menengai Oilers.<\/p>\n

Olago added they are going to use the Impala Floodlights as preparation for the start of the season.<\/p>\n

“It will be a good tournament. We will be able to observe our players and test our preparedness, physically and mentality,” he added.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, the Kenya Rugby Union has appointed Leslie Mwangale as director in charge of fixtures and leagues. He replaces Hillary Itela.<\/p>\n

Oscar Mango will be in charge of national squads and Sevens rugby.<\/p>\n

Ray Olendo will be the man at the helm of the Kenya 15s \u2014 the Simbas.<\/p>\n

Peris Mukoko will be in charge of women’s rugby with Kikechi Kombo in charge of development.<\/p>\n
