Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Wimbledon doubles junior tennis champion Angela Okutoyi will be aiming for consistency at the Women’s Futures tournament in Monastir, Tunisia next week.<\/p>\n

The teen sensation has had mixed performances in the circuit this year but believes she can end the year with a win.<\/p>\n

“It’s been a tough year. I have my ups and downs and I want to be competitive at the tournament and improve my ranking,\u201d noted Okutoyi.<\/p>\n

Okutoyi said she is well rested and ready for the tournament, having last played at the US Junior Open last month.<\/p>\n

“I’m well rested. I last played in New York and my focus now is on Tunisia,” she said adding that she is hopeful of a good run in Monastir.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been knocked out in the opening rounds twice so I hope I will be third time lucky and progress to the latter rounds of the tournament,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The country’s youngest Kenya Junior Open champion said she can cope with the pressure of being one of the top-seeded players at the tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s something I am learning and have to be prepared for. I am relishing the challenge,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The event in Monastir will be played on a hard-court surface and Okutoyi feels she is well adapted for it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI played in warm tournaments in Canada and at the US Open, which will be beneficial,\u201d added Okutoyi.<\/p>\n

After the two-week tournament in Monastir, Okutoyi will return home to play at a Futures tournament being organised by Tennis Kenya as well as the Karen Open.<\/p>\n

“This is the final stretch. I hope to improve my performances and do the country proud,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n
