Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Safaricom customers who have not updated their sim card details have at most eight days to do so, the telco has announced.<\/p>\n

The telecommunication company has provided alternatives on where customers can update their details including Safaricom App, Mpesa agent or simply using this link to update your details.<\/p>\n

Those visiting the MPesa agents must go with their national identity card.<\/p>\n

For registration online and in the Safaricom app, customers should ensure that they have scanned copy of their back and front side of their ID ready as they will required to upload.<\/p>\n

The scanned copy can be obtained by taking the image of you ID and cropping it to fit the frame.<\/p>\n

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) extended the SIM card registration deadline by six months to October 15, 2022.<\/p>\n

Many Kenyans had not registered their lines as required in new regulations forcing CA to extend the deadline.<\/p>\n

The registration is part of CA efforts to ensue that network providers such as Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom Kenya meet their target of 100 percent compliance with the Kenya Information and Communications Regulations 2015.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo far, Safaricom PLC has reported 67 percent compliance, Airtel Kenya 55 percent while Telkom Kenya is at 33 percent. In order to ensure that operators meet their obligation, the Authority has decided to extend the SIM card registration validation period for a further six (6) months. The new deadline for updating subscriber registration details will be 15th October 2022,\u201d said the CA boss.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring this period, the Authority will undertake monthly reviews to assess progress. At the expiry of the six (6) months, the Authority will further conduct a detailed compliance audit on each of the operators,” CA boss Ezra Chiloba announced in April, 15 while extending the deadline.<\/p>\n
