Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said that he has forgiven all the police officers who undressed him during a raid at his home in Nyeri in July, 2021.<\/p>\n

Gachagua was arrested last year over allegations money laundering amounting to hundreds of millions.<\/p>\n

“Hata yule polisi Uhuru alituma kwangu hamsini wakanitoa nguo mbele ya watoto na bibi yangu nimewasamehe,” Gachagua said.<\/p>\n

Loosely translates to: “Even the 50 police officers who were sent by Uhuru to arrest me in my house during which they undressed me in front of my wife and children, I have forgiven them”.<\/p>\n

The DP said he had forgiven all those who frustrated President William Ruto and him during campaign season.<\/p>\n

The DP said that police should know that they too have families and should not allow such to happen to anyone.<\/p>\n

“Siku ingine musifanyie binadamu vile mumetufanyia, Mungu akiwapa nafasi ya kufanya (When given such opportunities again do not frustrate a human being like that),” he said.<\/p>\n

He said that Kenyans need to embrace forgiveness to move forward.<\/p>\n

“President William Ruto and I have forgiven everyone so that we can move forward as a country,” he said.<\/p>\n

He urged Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to forgive all those who frustrated him.<\/p>\n

Gachagua spoke during a church thanksgiving service hosted by Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet at Koilel primary school.<\/p>\n

Leaders who accompanied him were National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa, Narok Governor Patrick Ntutu, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, Ruto\u2019s aide Farouk Kibet among others.<\/p>\n
