Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>A two-year-old boy is undergoing surgery at the Kenyatta National Hospital after a fork jembe got lodged in his head.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate the boy was out playing with his friends and siblings on Tuesday when one of the children hit the little boy with the jembe.<\/p>\n

The mother was away when the incident occurred.<\/p>\n

The KNH communications department in a statement allayed fears that the boy was in danger, noting that the patient had since been stabilized and undergoing the delicate surgery at the facility.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe patient had lost a lot of blood and as a result, the clotting process was not occurring as expected thereby delaying the surgical procedure as this would have been dangerous to the patient,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thank you for your concern and we assure you that the child is under the best care by our teams,\u201d it adds.<\/p>\n

KNH has conducted numerous major and minor surgeries and draws together faculty and staff from several departments (a multi-disciplinary team) to enhance patient care.<\/p>\n

In March, the hospital successfully conducted a four-hour highly delicate and complicated Tetralogy repair surgery on a 2-year-old baby.<\/p>\n

Carson Micky was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot at birth in 2018.<\/p>\n

The Tetralogy of Fallot at birth occurs when a baby\u2019s heart doesn\u2019t form correctly as it grows and develops in the mother\u2019s womb during pregnancy.<\/p>\n
