Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has taken issue with the dropping of graft charges against Public Service and Gender Cabinet nominee Aisha Jumwa and former Kenya Power MD Ben Chumo.<\/p>\n

He has insinuated that the move by the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji is a ‘cleansing’ exercise.<\/p>\n

“Clean them all…it’s their time to eat,” Ledama said in a tweet.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the DPP said that he had dropped corruption charges against Jumwa in the Sh19 million graft case the former Malindi MP was facing.<\/p>\n

She had been accused of allegedly embezzling CDF funds.<\/p>\n

Jumwa is among 22 Cabinet nominees that President William Ruto unveiled on September 28.<\/p>\n

Parliament on Wednesday approved a 21-member committee that will conduct the vetting exercise of the nominees before tabling its report on or before October 27.<\/p>\n

Azimio MPs have vowed to conduct a grueling vetting process for the 22 nominees after raising integrity questions on some of them.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Haji also withdrew the Sh400 million graft case against former Kenya Power MD Ben Chumo and 10 others.<\/p>\n

Chumo had been charged alongside Muwa Company Limited.<\/p>\n

He was in 2018 charged in court for willful failure to comply with procurement procedures in the purchase of transformers.<\/p>\n
