Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>KCB assistant coach Godfrey Oduor has predicted a scintillating preseason encounter against Kenyan Premier League rivals Sofapaka this Saturday.<\/p>\n

The two topflight behemoths are set to flex muscles at the KCB Leadership Centre in Karen, Nairobi as they seek to polish up their acts before the start of the new season.<\/p>\n

While observing they had experienced a good run in their preparatory matches thus far, Oduor cautioned his charges against approaching their next encounter with complacency.<\/p>\n

\u201cSofapaka is an equally good side and we look forward to an exciting match when we face them on Saturday. So far, we have been on a good run in pre-season and every coach is happy when his team registers good results.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also called upon the new administration to give dialogue a chance to end the current woes bedeviling Kenyan football.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would urge sports stakeholders to engage to ensure there is clear guidance on matters of football in the country,\u201d added Oduor.<\/p>\n

Similar sentiments had previously been expressed by KCB head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno who said continued procrastination of the new top-flight season had placed him and his charges in a preparation dilemma.<\/p>\n

The bankers, who were held to a barren draw by Zetech FC last weekend, will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they face Batoto Ba Mungu.<\/p>\n

KCB have been on imperious form in pre-season winning 17 out of the 18 friendly matches they have been involved in a date.<\/p>\n

According to the fixtures released by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Transition Committee, they will open their account against city rivals Kariobangi Sharks at Moi Stadium, Kasarani.<\/p>\n

Otieno and his charges received widespread praise for their splendid run in the 20\/2021 season, where they narrowly missed out on the title after finishing second behind Tusker.<\/p>\n

However, a lackadaisical form in their last campaign saw them slump down to a seventh-place finish after bagging 49 points.<\/p>\n

Coach Otieno had earlier in the year reiterated their determination to assert authority and crack a top-three finish in the new season.<\/p>\n

“At the moment, we are not training and just monitoring the situation in the country, before deciding on the next course of action,” he said.<\/p>\n

Otieno said they have beefed up their squad with new acquisitions from top-tier rivals after losing some of their key staff in the ongoing transfer window.<\/p>\n

“We have already signed five new players, including goalkeeper Byrne Omondi (Posta Rangers), defender Haroun Mwale (Ulinzi Stars), midfielder Danson Chitambe (Bandari) and defender Maurice Ajuang’ (Wazito) as well as striker Francis Kahiro (Talanta),\u201d Otieno revealed.<\/p>\n

The new signings are expected to step into the boots of the departing stars, including skipper and forward Simon Munala, defender Robison Kamura as well as both Reagan Otieno and Baraka Badi.<\/p>\n
