Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Former Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria will drive Kenya Kwanza\u2019s promise to increase the competitiveness of the local industry as Trade, Investment and Industry Cabinet Secretary.<\/p>\n

During campaigns, President William Ruto told Kenyans his administration will prioritise sectors with the highest potential to create jobs.<\/p>\n

To increase Kenya\u2019s exports, he said his government will implement the National Tax Policy and increase value addition in all primary exports and reduce the regulatory burden on the manufacturing sector.<\/p>\n

During Kenya Kwanza economic forums, it emerged that numerous regulations and the tax regime continue to hinder manufacturing competitiveness.<\/p>\n

Kuria is expected to guide Ruto\u2019s plan to raise the export intensity of manufacturing, reduce the regulatory burden, raise investment for industry and provide public goods for manufacturing.<\/p>\n

He is also expected to drive counties\u2019 industrial competitiveness and institute effective and pro-industry taxation structures and fully implement existing manufacturing-centric policies.<\/p>\n

After losing the Kiambu governor race, Kuria had indicated that he was heading back to the private sector after eight years of service as MP.<\/p>\n

Kuria has previously faced hate speech charges in court, an issue that might come up during vetting by MPs on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

He has also been caught on national television using vulgar language.<\/p>\n

Kuria was acquitted by a Milimani court after a local TV presenter withdrew assault charges against him.<\/p>\n

Kuria started his education at Githuya Primary School. He then joined Ituru Secondary School. The former MP pursued his undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Nairobi.<\/p>\n
