Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda shed tears as she presented her queries before a Parliamentary committee vetting Cabinet nominees.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the vetting of Kindiki Kithure for the Interior Cabinet Secretary post, she said cattle rustling in Tiaty had left hundreds dead and thousands of livestock stolen.<\/p>\n

Lesuuda said her constituency had suffered from increasing cases of insecurity and asked Kindiki what plans he had to end the insecurity in the region.<\/p>\n

“Just yesterday (Monday) when I was undertaking this important national duty, I received a text that criminals from Tiaty ambushed herders, injured one person and drove away with cattle,” she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis morning they attacked again, as we speak, they have killed one person, two people are missing and they’ve stolen goods,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

She said she is tired as a leader and that many Kenyans are also tired of the rampant killings.<\/p>\n

She asked Kindiki what strategy or thoughts he had regarding cattle rustling.<\/p>\n

Kindiki said he won’t share operational issues in front of the committee, but mentioned that one issue he faces is the lack of operational capability for the officers serving in those areas.<\/p>\n

Kindiki said he has requested facilitation so as to be able to improve the existing capability both for air and land mobility and also for the protection of officers in the area.<\/p>\n

Kindiki assured the committee he will do his best to deal with the issue.<\/p>\n

“I assure Kenyans that I will make whatever sacrifices that need to be made, I will stay focused until the banditry problem is over. Even if it means going to live in the North Rift,” Kindiki added.<\/p>\n

He said he will invoke the provisions of the constitution and the national police service Act to ensure that community policing is energized.<\/p>\n
