Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The public can now submit their views on basic education, tertiary, and university education.<\/p>\n

The working party led by Chairman Raphael Munavu will receive the views physically or via email.<\/p>\n

According to a notice from the Presidential working party on education reforms, the deadline for submission is November 18.<\/p>\n

“The submissions should be addressed to the chairperson and hand-delivered to the working party offices,” the notice reads.<\/p>\n

The notice dated October 18 further notes that the views should be sent to [email protected]<\/p>\n

For physical submissions, the public will visit Absa Towers, Loita Street on the 10th floor in Nairobi.<\/p>\n

“The views should be submitted by way of memoranda, letters, or research papers and should address the following areas,” the notice reads.<\/p>\n

The 49-member team gazetted by President William Ruto will address three major issues on the Competency-Based Curriculum.<\/p>\n

The task force will submit recommendations in the basic education sector, on CBC and the higher education sub-sector.<\/p>\n

On CBC, the team is expected to elaborate on the conduct of key tenets in the curriculum.<\/p>\n

\u201cImplementation of aspects guiding the competency-based approach including but not limited to value-based education, community service learning, parental empowerment and engagement,\u201d the gazette notice reads.<\/p>\n

The team will also evaluate the assessment of learners, the quality assurance and the standards of CBC.<\/p>\n

Ruto also directed the team to look into teacher training and deployment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe technology for curriculum delivery, improved learning outcomes and education management, public school categorization policies and implications on access, transition, and cost,\u201d the notice reads.<\/p>\n

The higher education subsector will also undergo reforms, according to recommendations given by the task force.<\/p>\n

Ruto asked that the Munuva team reviews legislation in the institutions of higher learning.<\/p>\n

This includes Technical and vocational training and universities.<\/p>\n

\u201cReview and recommend legislation to facilitate the amalgamation of HELB, TVET, and University Funding Boards with a view of harmonizing and merging all tertiary education funding entities,” the notice reads.<\/p>\n

He also directed that the task force recommends criteria to implement an open university in Kenya.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo recommend a framework of operationalizing the National Open University of Kenya and a framework on Open, Distance and E-line learning (ODEL),\u201d the notice reads.<\/p>\n
