Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>University of Eldoret\u2019s Trojans is targeting a playoff position in the 2022-23 Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Championship League.<\/p>\n

Coach Kelvin Mwisheni said: \u201cEven though it\u2019s too early to talk about next season, our sponsors have given us a target of finishing top six. With good preparations, that is achievable. It\u2019s our dream to play in Kenya Cup one day.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the team has stepped up their training ahead of the league kick-off on November 26 with Trojans opening their campaign against former Kenya Cup side Western Bulls at the Bull Ring in Kakamega, according to tentative fixtures released by KRU two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are currently using the Varsity league and upcoming Victoria Cup to prepare for the season. I\u2019m happy with the introduction of the Victoria Cup because it gives me a chance to gauge my players before the season kicks off.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trojans began their Varsity League campaign with an emphatic 48-0 win over Technical University of Kenya at Catholic University of East Africa grounds in Nairobi last weekend.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in the pre-season of the newly introduced Victoria Cup, Trojans are scheduled to play local rivals Moi University on Saturday at Eldoret Sports while Kitale RFC will be up against Eldoret RFC.<\/p>\n

Mbale RFC will host Vihiga Granites at Demesi Primary School in Mbale as former Kenya Cup side Western Bulls tackle Bungoma RFC at the Bull Ring.<\/p>\n

In Kisumu, Maseno University welcome former Kenya Cup side, Kisii RFC while Kisumu RFC will tackle Siaya.<\/p>\n

Kenya Cup sides Kabras Sugar and Masinde Murilo University of Science and Technology (MMUST) have been given a bye to the quarter-finals.<\/p>\n

The tournament features teams from Kenya Cup, KRU Championship, and Nationwide Leagues. It will conclude on November 12.<\/p>\n
