Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Roots party leader George Wajackoyah has declared himself the official leader of the opposition.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Friday in Western Kenya, the former presidential candidate said he is now the new Joshua who will deliver the people to Canaan.<\/p>\n

“Mimi sasa ndio Joshua nataka kuwapeleka Canaan. Na tutafika huko Canaan manake Musa amechoka. Na tutaendelea kumheshimu Musa. I am the official opposition leader in this country!\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

(I’m now Joshua. I want to take you to Canaan. And we will get to Canaan now that Moses is tired. And we will continue to honour Moses)<\/p>\n

Azimio chief Raila Odinga, who has been the long-time opposition chief in the country, had always used the Canaan analogy as part of his campaign strategy.<\/p>\n

There has been speculation on who could be the next opposition leader after Azimio chief Raila.<\/p>\n

Wajackoyah added that President William Ruto is his good friend but he will reprimand and check on his government if need be.<\/p>\n

“It doesn’t mean that when you’re an opposition leader you become an enemy of the government,” he said.<\/p>\n

Wajackoyah added that he will be next President of Kenya.<\/p>\n

He said many people have been educated through the sale of illicit brews and that President Yoweri Museveni had legalised the brew in Uganda.<\/p>\n

Wajackoyah argued that if the illegal brew, popularly known as chang’aa is legalised, it can be distilled propoerly to safe standards to avert loss of lives.<\/p>\n

Wajackoyah finished third in the August 9 presidential elections behind Raila and Ruto.<\/p>\n

He ran on the strength of a manifesto that contained a myriad of controversial proposals including the legalisation of bhang for commercial use.<\/p>\n

He also said he would commercialise snake rearing for commercial benefits through the sale of venom.<\/p>\n
