Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Strathmore Scorpions experienced attacker Gilly Okumu has challenged the team to be more clinical in front of goal following their 1-1 draw with Blazers in a Premier League match at the City Park Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The students dominated the match but spun several chances and failed to get a double over the record champions after slaying Blazers 2-0 in the reverse fixture.<\/p>\n

Barbra Simiyu gave Blazers the lead in the 43rd minute with a simple tap in. Scorpions captain Jerian Onsare drew the students level three minutes from regulation time.<\/p>\n

Okumu presumed that fatigue played apart in the team dropping their first points of the season after edging out USIU-A Spartans 2-1 last Thursday. Scorpions are unbeaten in eight matches and are on course to a maiden historic title.<\/p>\n

Okumu wants the Meshack Senge-coached side to scalp the Lakers this weekend to relieve the team off pressure.<\/p>\n

“We only have ourselves to blame. We were superior in every aspect but the final touch really let us down,” Okumu, who has had several professional stints in Germany, said.<\/p>\n

“We were a bit sluggish and tired legs didn’t help either. Inexperience again affected us and couldn’t manage the game well.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Lucy Wangeci, the Blazers’ long serving and dependable defender said they will bounce back stronger next season after a below par display this term.<\/p>\n

Blazers financial problems are well catalogued and the team need to regroup to find their footing again amidst the on going transition.<\/p>\n

“We are down but not out. Covid-19 disoriented the team’s training regime and the long break hit us hard as well. We will return stronger as a team,” Wangeci said.<\/p>\n

In the men’s Super League, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) needed a Cyrus Narui 51st minute strike to seal maximum points against the Technical University of Kenya (TUK).<\/p>\n

In the women’s Cadre, University of Nairobi beat JKUAT 2-1. Cynthia Ejai and Clementin Sims scored in the 3rd and 59th minutes respectively for UoN, rendering Lucy Adhiambo’s 49th goal a consolation.<\/p>\n
