Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has welcomed the decision by president William Ruto to gazette the impending vacancies at the commission.<\/p>\n

The president on Saturday gazetted job openings at the commission for the position of the IEBC chair and two commissioners<\/p>\n

The three, including Chebukati, are set for retirement on January 17, 2023, after serving a non-renewable term of 6 years.<\/p>\n

In response to the gazettement of the vacancies, Chebukati said:<\/p>\n

“I wish to welcome the decision to gazette impending vacancies for the positions of IEBC Chairperson and 2 Commissioners which will officially be vacant from 18\/1\/2023. This will ensure smooth transition and retention of institutional memory which has previously not been the case.”<\/p>\n

On Saturday, the President put out a public notice constituting a panel for the recruitment of the next IEBC chairman and two commissioners.<\/p>\n

The two commissioners exiting the commission are Boya Molu and Abdi Guliye.<\/p>\n

The trio was appointed on January 18, 2017.<\/p>\n

Four other commissioners Juliana Cherera, Justus Nyangaya, Francis Wanderi and Irene Masit took office in September 2021.<\/p>\n

They will equally serve for a non-renewable term of six years<\/p>\n
