Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Javeria Siddique, the wife of slain Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif now says Kenyan authorities are responsible for her husband’s death.<\/p>\n

In a tweet on Tuesday, Siddique said her husband was returning home in a coffin, adding that journalism was not a crime.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Siddique asked Twitter to pull down images of her husband.<\/p>\n

Through her Twitter handle, she also appealed for privacy as the family mourns her husband’s death.<\/p>\n

“Please @Twitter remove the last pictures of my late husband @arsched from your social media site. Politicians and media are not welcomed with cameras inside our house,” Javeria said.<\/p>\n

The investigative journalist was shot dead on Sunday night along the Nairobi-Magadi highway, in what police termed as a mistaken identity.<\/p>\n

Arshad Sharif was shot in the head and killed by police after he and his driver allegedly breached a roadblock that had been set up to check on motor vehicles using the route.<\/p>\n

According to police, at the roadblock, there was a call for police to intercept a car similar to the one they were driving following a carjacking incident in the Pangani area, Nairobi where a child was taken hostage.<\/p>\n

And a few minutes later, Sharif\u2019s car emerged at the roadblock and they were stopped and asked to identify themselves.<\/p>\n

They allegedly failed to stop and drove past the roadblock.<\/p>\n

This prompted a brief chase and shooting that left Sharif dead. Their car rolled and his driver was injured and taken to hospital.<\/p>\n

He later told police he and his slain colleague were developers and were headed for a site in Magadi.<\/p>\n

“The National Police Service regrets this unfortunate incident. Competent authorities are currently investigating the incident for appropriate action,” a police statement said.<\/p>\n
