Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Founder and party leader of Farmers Party David Nduati Kigochi will be cremated on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Nduati died on Sunday at Nairobi Hospital where he was receiving treatment after a short illness.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Star on Tuesday, Farmers Party national chairman Irungu Nyakera confirmed the death of Nduati.<\/p>\n

He said that the final mass will be held at St Paul Catholic Church in Nairobi on Friday at 10 am and thereafter, the cremation exercise as per his last wish.<\/p>\n

He described him as a man who championed the interest of farmers across the Country.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur party leader indeed died on Sunday at Nairobi Hospital while receiving treatment,\u201d Nyakera said.<\/p>\n

Nyakera described Kigochi as a career tourist officer who rose through the ranks while working for the Ministry of Tourism & Wildlife until his retirement in 2008.<\/p>\n

Farmers Party National Director for Publicity Albert Kasembeli said family and friends are meeting at Serene Hotel along Koinange Street ahead of the cremation on Friday.<\/p>\n

“It is with profound sadness that I inform you of the passing of Mzee David Nduati Kigochi, the Founder and Party Leader of Farmers Party. Kigochi founded Farmers Party in 2006 with the sole objective of advocating farmer rights in Kenya,” Kasembeli said.<\/p>\n

Kigochi served as Executive Chairman of Urban Slums Concern, dealing with HIV programs in Nairobi Slums and environs.<\/p>\n

He also served as a patron of the Association of People with Disabilities in Gatundu North as well as Executive Chairman of Street People Care, which deals with the rehabilitation of street families.<\/p>\n
