Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kenya Cup side Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) head coach John Asila says they are under no pressure as they prepare to face KRU Championships side Eldoret RFC in the quarter-final of the inaugural Western Region pre-season Lake Victoria Cup on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Asila said the event is part of their preparation for Kenya Cup, the top rugby 15s league, set to kick off on November 26 across the country.<\/p>\n

In the other quarterfinal, fellow Kenya Cup side Kabras Sugar host Mbale with Western Bulls playing the University of Eldoret (UOE) side Trojans. The only match that will be played in Kisumu will see the hosts take on Kisii RFC.<\/p>\n

MMUST and Kabras had been handed a bye and their matches will begin this weekend at the quarterfinal level.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are playing at home and we are not under pressure to deliver because this tournament will help them gauge their strength ahead of Kenya Cup kick-off,\u201d said Asila.<\/p>\n

He said for them it is not much about victory but the execution of the match. \u201cThe tournament will help the squad bond ahead of the Kenya Cup. We expect a good tournament as we prepare for the Kenya Cup next month,\u201d added Asila.<\/p>\n

Eldoret RFC defeated Kitale RFC 17-15 to qualify for the quarters in a match played at the Eldoret Sports Club on Saturday while UOE were handed a bye after Moi University failed to show up in the Eldoret region cluster.<\/p>\n

In the Kakamega cluster, Western Bulls defeated Bungoma RFC 44-09 while Mbale shocked Vihiga Granites 15-31. In the Kisumu region, where Kisumu were 69-0 winners over Siaya.<\/p>\n
