Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority and the African Union will host a three-day international conference on Bridging Innovation and Learning in TVET in Nairobi.<\/p>\n

The conference is the first on-site bridging event of the BILT project in Africa.<\/p>\n

Participants will discuss the perspective that the BILT project will take on green and digital transition in the hospitality and tourism sector.<\/p>\n

The theme of the conference is \u2018Going green and digital: TVET for hospitality and tourism\u2019 in the wake of technological advancement.<\/p>\n

The goal is to define the scope of the transition to a green and digital economy and society that will be assembled after the event.<\/p>\n

The TVET BILT will run from November 7 to November 9 at the Boma Hotel in Nairobi.<\/p>\n

The conference will also generate knowledge and support peer learning on innovative practices in TVET, identify opportunities for collaboration within and across the BILT regions and contribute to strengthening the UNEVOC and TVET stakeholder network, particularly in Africa.<\/p>\n

Keynote speakers will be senior officers from the Ministry of Education, TVETA director general Kipkurui Langat, BOMA International Hospitality College director Abbas Gullet, Senior Youth Advisor in the African Union Commission Nicholas Ouma and Regional Director and Representative, UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa Hubert Gijzen, among others.<\/p>\n

Experts from the private sector associations, unions, UNEVOC Centres in Africa, Asia and European and international organizations will also participate in the conference.<\/p>\n

The TVET BILT project is a joint initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the German Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB), and UNESCO-UNEVOC.<\/p>\n

The primary objective of BILT is to support stakeholders across Africa, Asia-Pacific and Europe in addressing current challenges in TVET arising from technological, environmental, social and workplace changes.<\/p>\n

The conference will provide a global platform for innovation, knowledge exchange and peer learning.<\/p>\n

It will collect best practices and lessons learned and make them available to interested TVET stakeholders worldwide.<\/p>\n

All BILT activities are guided by the overarching theme of new qualifications and competencies (NQC) in TVET.<\/p>\n

Through this prism, BILT is addressing four thematic areas; digitalisation, greening, entrepreneurship and the integration of migrants.<\/p>\n

The BILT bridging event comes at a time when African countries are at different levels of implementing sustainable and digital economic development.<\/p>\n

The continent, however, offers considerable opportunities for a green and digital transition of TVET systems. Other participants will also attend virtually.<\/p>\n
