Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Impala Floodlit champions KCB begin their title defence against Quins at the Impala Club on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Following a two-year hiatus, the tournament returns with mouth-watering matches. Curtis Olago’s charges will be keen to send out a warning to the rest of the rivals in what promises to be a cracker as they chase their fourth consecutive crown.<\/p>\n

Olago will hand debuts to four players in the match including Festus Shiasi who will start at second centre while former Homeboyz prop Thomas Okidia, Ishmael Goro and Winstone Macharia will start off the bench.<\/p>\n

In the forwards, Olago has gone for the tried and tested combination which will see former Kenya Simbas prop Curtis Lilako, Oscar Simiyu and George Asin in the front row.<\/p>\n

Former Kenya Sevens skipper Andrew Amonde and Davis Chenge will be in the back row with Elvis Olukusi and Davis Chenge being the second-row combination.<\/p>\n

In the back, Brian Wahinya and Shaban Ahmed will be the half-back combination with Smith Muhoya and Bob Muhati the key actors in the backline.<\/p>\n

Olago said he expects a competitive game against Quins. \u201cThis is our first match after pre-season. We know it won’t be easy and that is why I am encouraging the boys to execute well in attack and defence and enjoy themselves,” he said. The match will kick off at 7:25 pm.<\/p>\n

In other fixtures, hosts Impala face a stern test from Nondies from 5:40 pm. Both sides were relegated from last season’s Kenya Cup and each will be trying to prove a point in this clash.<\/p>\n

The first match of the club category will be the Nakuru derby pitting runners-up Menengai Oilers against Nakuru RFC at 2:20 pm as Strathmore Leos face Blak Blad in the first match of the clubs’ category.<\/p>\n

In the varsity category, Strathmore Leos Catulus face United States National Under-20 team face Nakuru Universities combined as part of the varsity category. The winners of this match will advance to the semifinals slated for next Saturday. Tusker have sponsored the tournament to the tune of Sh2 million<\/p>\n
