Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President William Ruto has directed the Independent Policing Oversight Authority to come up with a plan that will bring to an end extrajudicial killings.<\/p>\n

In a statement on Monday, Ruto said Ipoa is best placed to come up with the plan and hand it to the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.<\/p>\n

The directive came shortly after the President met the Ipoa Board at State House Nairobi, where they discussed their mandate, among other things.<\/p>\n

“You are uniquely qualified to help us define a mechanism to stop this practice,” Ruto said.<\/p>\n

The head of state, during the meeting, reiterated his administration’s commitment to stop extra-judicial killings in the country.<\/p>\n

The meeting comes in the wake of a tussle between Ipoa and the Police Internal Affairs Unit over who should have been in charge of investigating the DCI officers from the disbanded Special Service Unit.<\/p>\n

H.E. President William Ruto this morning met the IPOA Board at Statehouse Nairobi for discussions on how to enhance police reforms in Kenya through civilian oversight. The President asked IPOA to operationalise a strategy to deal conclusively with extrajudicial killings.<\/p>\n
