Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The government has advertised the deputy Central Bank Governor’s position in what will end Sheila Mmbijiwe’s eight-year tenure at the apex bank.<\/p>\n

In a public notice issued Tuesday, the Public Service Commission is looking for a candidate to serve for a four-year renewable term.<\/p>\n

“The candidate must have at least 10 years of experience in the field of economics, finance, law, or any other field relevant to the position of a CBK governor,” PSC said in the job advertisement.<\/p>\n

Mmbijiwe was appointed to the office alongside the current CBK boss Patrick Njoroge in June 2015. The immediate former President Uhuru Kenyatta renewed his term in 2019.<\/p>\n

The deputy governor will perform such duties as assigned by the governor.<\/p>\n

It is not clear why PSC opted to advertise the position almost eight months before the end of Mmbijiwe’s tenure, which comes to a close in June of next year.<\/p>\n

The 64- year old has a long history of service in Kenya’s private banking sector and financial environment.<\/p>\n

She has served as a board member in several companies, including the Capital Markets Authority, the Nairobi Stock Exchange, Old Mutual, Financial Reporting Centre of Kenya, Pricewaterhouse Kenya and Deloitte Touche\u0301 Kenya, amongst others.<\/p>\n

She was a founding member of the Monetary Policy Committee and the Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act Advisory Committee of Kenya.<\/p>\n

She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounts and Finance and is qualified as a Chartered Accountant in England and Wales.<\/p>\n

In 2008 she was awarded the Moran of the Burning Spear (MBS), a Presidential medal for service to her country.<\/p>\n

Interested candidates for the position have until November 14 to tender their applications.<\/p>\n
