Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Menengai Oilers coach Gibson Weru wants his charges to improve on the setpiece ahead of their Impala Floodlit semifinal against Blak Blad on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Despite a 26-13 win over cross-town rivals Nakuru on Saturday, the Kenya Cup runners-up are hoping to step up a gear if they harbour any chances of winning the competition.<\/p>\n

“Our setpiece was good but not great and it has to be stable going forward because we are meeting quality teams in this event,\u201d he added<\/p>\n

The former Kenya Sevens playmaker said they are trying different combinations during the tournament and the bigger picture, in the long run, is to win the Kenya Cup.<\/p>\n

“We are looking at different players in some positions and see how they fit in against Nakuru. We did not click in some areas and we want to improve those facets of play this week,” he said.<\/p>\n

Weru termed Blak Blad a very unpredictable side who on their day can cause problems.<\/p>\n

“Blak Blad play with so much intensity and have awesome energy lasting the whole match. The students are quite unpredictable,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Oilers are going to be without forwards Edward Mwaura and Clinton Odhiambo and backline players Beldada Ogeta, Geofrey Ominde and Timothy Omela.<\/p>\n

The players are with the Kenya Simbas at the World Cup repechage and are expected back at their Nakuru base in December once the Kenya Cup starts.<\/p>\n

“We are trying to build depth in the squad and their absence opens the doors for other players to come through and deliver for the side going forward,” noted Weru.<\/p>\n

Weru said the target this season is to go and win the Kenya Cup.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast year, we came up short against Kabras and we have adressed those minor details which cost us in the final. We want to go one place better and win,\u201d said Weru.<\/p>\n

The second semi-final will pit the winner of the Nondies vs Impala encounter and champions KCB v Quins on Saturday. The final is slated for November 13.<\/p>\n
