Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua applauded the Judiciary on their ruling of scraping the Building Bridges Initiative.<\/p>\n

Gachagua said the initiative was not genuine and people were forced to accept it.<\/p>\n

The DP spoke at the Supreme Court on Friday during the official launch of the State of the Judiciary and Administration of Justice Annual Report.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to salute the judiciary for having stopped the BBI on its track. It was a terrible scheme against the people of Kenya and all of us had given up,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was being taken down our throats, everybody was being coerced, everybody was being persecuted and everybody was being bribed but.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gachagua said Kenya’s state was preserved through prudent Judicial discretion because the country had an independent judiciary from the high court to the court of appeal and the Supreme court.<\/p>\n

He said the administration will continue to support independent institutions to make sure they deliver their mandate effectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to assure you of our continued support and I want to confirm that the President has placed the function of coordinating independent offices and constitutional commissions in my office,\u201d Gachagua said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not to interfere with whatever you do, but for the purpose of providing a facilitative supportive role to your work by intervening where you need intervention in the treasury.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gachagua said the President has directed that the country will be governed through the rule of law and strict adherence to the rule of law.<\/p>\n
