Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Prime Cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi has said President William Ruto will not discriminate against any shade of Kenyans.<\/p>\n

Mudavadi said the fact is that all Kenyans pay taxes and therefore must receive government services.<\/p>\n

He spoke at Mwala in Machakos county on Saturday when he launched a food distribution exercise.<\/p>\n

“Kenyans have a democratic right of electing leaders they want after five years, I want to assure you that we in Kenya Kwanza government are democratic.<\/p>\n

“We won’t have the habit of using powers of government to frustrate people and force them to be in a certain corner of political affiliation,” Mudavadi said.<\/p>\n

He said that habit must end in Kenya since citizens have their democratic rights.<\/p>\n

Mudavadi further said the government will address river pollution on Nairobi and Athi rivers.<\/p>\n

He said Ruto’s administration is committed to ensuring that the rivers are cleaned up so as to protect Kenyans from diseases caused by pollutants.<\/p>\n

“Nairobi River is black. The aerial view shows it is black. When you get downwards, it starts becoming green,” Mudavadi said.<\/p>\n

“So, it’s a serious issue. The government is looking on a serious programme that will be under deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to ensure that cleaning of Nairobi River is an urgent issue on the agenda.”<\/p>\n

The CS said the river must be cleaned so that polluted waters don’t drain into River Athi, thereby polluting the latter.<\/p>\n

“There must be a deliberate, concerted effort and urgent one. We are appealing to international communities that we must clean Nairobi River. Once we clean it, then River Athi will be clean,” he said.<\/p>\n

Mudavadi however, warned those polluting the rivers saying their days were numbered.<\/p>\n

“I warn the people and the factories discharging poison and garbage in those rivers. It’s going to be expensive and punitive if they don’t stop that habit because people, livestock and wildlife’s lives are in danger,” he said.<\/p>\n

The CS said the pollution has exposed citizens to diseases including cancer.<\/p>\n

“Cancer is a disease with lots of problems. If it gets into your home, then poverty has entered. It’s an expensive disease.”<\/p>\n

Mudavadi said cancer can wipe out families’ investments.<\/p>\n
