Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has told off ODM leader Raila Odinga\u2019s call for the involvement of foreign sleuths in investigating police extrajudicial killings.<\/p>\n

Gachagua, who spoke in Kajiado on Saturday during the distribution of humanitarian relief food and hay for wildlife, said the government of Kenya Kwanza has the capacity, through its investigators to handle the matter.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll the extrajudicial perpetrators within the police force who caused the suffering of many Kenyans will face the full force of the law, and Raila should fly out of the country if he wants to work with foreigners. Let him take a flight,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The DP claimed Raila is playing with the minds of Kenyans in the face of alleged crimes committed by members of the police.<\/p>\n

\u201cI promise those who lost their loved ones during the previous regime that justice will be served to them. We have competent investigators and we do not need the services of Scotland Police in this matter as suggested by the opposition leader,\u201d said Gachagua.<\/p>\n

The DP led other government officials in flagging off hay and an assortment of animal feeds for wildlife in Manyatta, Amboseli.<\/p>\n

The ongoing drought has affected humans, livestock and our game. Our wildlife is threatened by lack of grazing,\u201d said Gachagua.<\/p>\n

He said 4.5 million Kenyans are facing food shortages across the country and appealed to the donors and friends of Kenya to support the government of President William Ruto.<\/p>\n

While launching the feeding program for the wildlife, Gachagua flagged off 2,000 bales of 20 kg of hay each, and 300 bags of maize flour of 70kg each, all expected to last for the next 14 days.<\/p>\n

The Kajiado South Senior KWS Warden, Daniel Kosgei said the feeds will take 14 days as the Amboseli ecosystem is expected to receive rains in mid-November through to December.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat was launched by the DP is just the start of receiving support from our donors for the suffering wildlife. Our appeal is that even in the advent of the rains, these wild animals should be supported for another month,\u201d said Kosgey.<\/p>\n

Amboseli National Park alone, according to the regional KWS boss, Lenkishon Kenana, has lost 50 jumbos to the drought and about 205 nationally.<\/p>\n

Gachagua said wildlife is the country\u2019s treasure and provides great pride for Kenya.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will do everything possible to protect this treasure,\u201d added Gachagua.<\/p>\n

Kajiado Governor Joseph Lenku, who accompanied the DP with other elected leaders to Bissil and Amboseli, thanked the national government for going to the rescue of the region\u2019s Maasai faced with starvation.<\/p>\n

Earlier on in Bissil, Gachagua announced the national treasury\u2019s plan to start a livestock take-off program for the Kajiado pastoralists.<\/p>\n

The program seeks to buy all the weak livestock and distribute meat to the hungry the remaining meat is processed into cans and later distributed to other areas that require protein supplements from meat.<\/p>\n

Secretary to the cabinet, Mercy Wanjau, French Ambassador, Arnaud Suquet, Irish Ambassador, Fionnuala Quinlan, UNDP Resident Representative, Anthony Ngororano, Food and Agriculture Organization Country Representative, Carla Mucavi and Representatives of the Kenya Red Cross, Kenya Private Sector Alliance and Kenya Association of Manufacturers among others accompanied the DP to Kajiado.<\/p>\n
