Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kenya Volleyball Federation league fourth leg fixtures will run as earlier planned despite Kenya Prisons and Kenya Army skipping the event in Mombasa.<\/p>\n

KVF organising secretary, Ishmael Chege, said the two will lose points after failing to give a sufficient explanation on why they won’t be present in Mombasa.<\/p>\n

The three-day tournament which starts today will be hosted at Kenya Ports Authority’s Makande Hall.<\/p>\n

“When somebody tells you that they won’t be available due to unavoidable circumstances without further explanation, it becomes pretty difficult for us to help.”<\/p>\n

“The program will go on as scheduled. There will be walkovers for those teams that won’t show up. There’s no shortcut.”<\/p>\n

This will be a big blow to the Wardresses, who are the league-defending champions. Prisons, who are missing five first-team players because of family matters, were set to face Kenya Army, Kenya Defence Forces and Kenya Pipeline.<\/p>\n

Losing nine points could make their playoff chances a pipedream and further complicate their title defence chance.<\/p>\n

Kenya Pipeline face a herculean task against KCB in today’s highlight. The oil merchants also have a date with Kenya Army and the Wardresses. Despite the development, Pipeline coach Paul Gitau said his charges are prepared for three matches.<\/p>\n

“When we left Nairobi we knew we were coming to compete in all our fixtures. That is the mindset we have.”<\/p>\n

Pipeline will be without Veronicah Adhiambo and Esther Mutinda. The former got greener pastures in Turkey after the World Championships.<\/p>\n

KCB also face a tricky match against the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI). The reigning African Club Champions must cope without Sharon Chepchumba who linked up with her new club Aris Thessaloniki volleyball club in early October.<\/p>\n

The bankers however boast of greater quality with Mercy Moim and company capable of unlocking any defence.<\/p>\n

KCB are out to win the national league title they narrowly missed last year when they lost 3-1 (25-22, 13-25, 25-21, 25-17) to champions Kenya Prisons in the final match.<\/p>\n

Rejuvenated DCI will savour their chances against Nairobi Prisons and KDF. The sleuths recently won the annual Nyerere Cup Invitational tournament in Arusha and are banking on a fully fit squad to garner maximum points.<\/p>\n

Minnows Vihiga team lock horns with KDF and Nairobi Prisons. KDF also entertain Kenya Prisons<\/p>\n
