Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>City Stars are uncomfortable with the Football Kenya Federation’s move to annul 2021\/2022 Kenya Premier League season.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnnulment of last season league is, to say the least very unfortunate and regrettable,\u201d said Nairobi City Stars’ chief executive officer, Patrick Korir.<\/p>\n

FKF, through the general secretary Barry Otieno, announced that there will be no promotion or relegation in the FKF Premier League, National Super League, and Women’s Premier League<\/p>\n

Korir said: \u201cThink about the teams that had won their respective leagues and were angling for a promotion. Also think about the resources that teams put in, particularly community clubs. Imagine the wastage. It’s regrettable.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cOn the flip side, and going forward, these are things that must be considered before the federation, the only body mandated to administer the game locally, is cast aside for whatever reason. They are the ones who set the structure and have requisite committees to manage leagues.\u201d<\/p>\n

Korir said that had the federation committees existed while the immediate past leagues ran, there would have been no annulment.<\/p>\n

Korir welcomed the announcement of league kick-off dates, saying they are excited that football is finally back.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Nairobi City Stars, we are excited that kickoff dates for the season are now known. We can now restructure our training accordingly as we have a start date,\u201d he said in a statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Otieno announced that the KPL will start on November 19 while the second-tier NSL will kick off a week later.<\/p>\n
