Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Team Kenya will be represented by 43 swimmers at next week’s CANA Zone 3 Championships in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania.<\/p>\n

Kenya, who have been suspended by FINA, will compete under a neutral flag.<\/p>\n

Kenya will be keen to win the five-day championship which has attracted Uganda, Burundi, Sudan, Eritrea, and the hosts Tanzania.<\/p>\n

Kenya finished third overall last year with 2369 points as Uganda carried the day with 2827 points. Tanzania were second with 2638 points.<\/p>\n

Nathan Matimu, who shone last year in Kampala, will be returning to spearhead Kenya’s hopes of a gold medal harvest in Tanzania.<\/p>\n

Others selected for the boys’ category and took part last year in Kampala include Baraka Nyakundi, Neo Olengo, Igbal Bayusuf and Aker Mutinda.<\/p>\n

In the girls’ category, Ali Lubaina will be one to watch out for alongside Nina Irangi, Marion Alela and Ivy Aseka.<\/p>\n

While releasing the names, FINA Stabilisation Committee for Kenya Swimming Federation member, Francis Mutuku, said the selected team will post good results.<\/p>\n

“The selection process was rigorous with the help of the new members of the secretariat. This is a very strong team and I am confident they will fly the country’s flag high,” added Mutuku.<\/p>\n

Lembeli Anze is the head coach and will be assisted by Muthoni Katuga and Slavica Latinovic. Maureen Owiti will be the team manager. The team leaves on Monday for the Dar event.<\/p>\n
