Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>KCB women’s volleyball team head coach Japheth Munala has called on his charges to bounce back when they face DCI on today after their 3-1 loss to Kenya Pipeline in the fourth leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) League at the Makande Hall, Mombasa.<\/p>\n

Inspired Pipeline bagged the first set 25-23 but the hard-fighting bankers restored parity with a 25-20 win in the second set.<\/p>\n

The oil merchants then put their act together to claim the subsequent sets with identical 25-20 to inflict the bankers their first loss of the season.<\/p>\n

Munala, who in June guided the bankers to African Club Championship title win after 16-years said: \u201cWe struggled a lot on Friday against a very good side. We are trying many combinations and instilling our system in the new guys who are joining the team after the departure of Sharon Jepchumba. Our attention now shifts on today\u2019s game and the upcoming playoffs.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Lionesses lost the services of opposite attacker Jepchumba who joined Greece side Aris Thessaloniki in October and Munala believes the void she left will be felt for a long time. Munala, however, expressed optimism in the young blood to propel the team to glory once the season comes to an end.<\/p>\n

Perhaps exploits in the World Championships could have affected KCB’s performance after five of their players were involved the global assignment that concluded in mid-October.<\/p>\n

Team captain Edith Wisa said: \u201cThe girls played well but it was a bad day in the office. We have to rediscover ourselves and ensure that we scalp DCI today. ”<\/p>\n
