Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy President Righathi Gachagua has issued a stern warning to anyone caught leaking this year\u2019s National Exams.<\/p>\n

Gachagua insisted that every child sitting the examinations deserves a fair chance to pass.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn forthcoming National Examinations for our candidates, we want an equal playground for every child to score what they deserve,\u201d he said in a tweet.<\/p>\n

Culprits of examination leakage, he said, will be dealt with decisively.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe urge vigilance and responsibility during the examination process,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

This year, candidates will be sitting for three national examinations.<\/p>\n

The Grade six assessment for the Competency-Based Curriculum, the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education and the Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education.<\/p>\n

CBC and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exams (KCPE) will commence on November 28, and will run for a period of three days, while Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education will end on December 23.<\/p>\n

1.5 million learners in the pioneer cohort are expected to sit the Grade six assessments in November.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Friday, the Deputy president asked teachers to be satisfied with their salaries.<\/p>\n

He insisted that satisfaction is the only way to prevent them from being tempted to leak exams to criminals for a fee.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am pleading with you not to get corrupted by criminals to join them in trying to go around a good process of administering exams and trying to leak them,\u201d Gachagua said.<\/p>\n

He said that no officer present or across the country including teachers, invigilators and supervisors to the exams should be found leaking exams.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe law will catch up with you and it is not really worth it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said there is dignity and fulfilment in earning money in a good way through labour and sweat.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is very fulfilling to earn your Sh50,000 after 30 days of invigilating or supervising, rather than leaking the exams,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The DP called on teachers not satisfied with their salaries to start side hustles like farming or investing in Saccos to earn extra income.<\/p>\n
