Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Emmanuel Okello bagged a brace as Moi University beat Cooperative University 35-0 to sail to the quarterfinals of the ongoing Varsity Rugby 15’s League.<\/p>\n

In the final pool matches played over the weekend at the Moi University Main Campus in Eldoret, the Arsonists torched Cooperative in their final Pool D match to set up a a quarter final date with Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) side, Marines.<\/p>\n

Moi took off on a good note when Okello touched down for the hosts with Allan Shavola converting for a 7-0 lead.<\/p>\n

Michael Ochieng added another try as Shavola added the extras for a 14-0 into the break.<\/p>\n

After return, Moses Ngaira went past the try line with Shavola easily converting for a 21-0 dominance and Okello sealed his brace when he touched down again with Shavola converting for a 28-0 lead.<\/p>\n

Ronald Ndira rounded off the try and as usual, Shavola added the extras for a deserved 35-0 win, the first-ever win without conceding.<\/p>\n

Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) won Pool C following their 22-10 victory over Meru University in their last pool match.<\/p>\n

Moi Unversity coach Tony Khadambi said the win was good for them considering they came into the match in the third position behind leaders Kisii (10 points) and Cooperative (5 points) respectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe needed to win to progress and the boys have just done that. Our next move is to prepare for the quarterfinals set for next weekend,\u201d said Khadambi.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Nairobi University side Mean Machine will take on the University of Eldoret side Trojans.<\/p>\n

Machine finished runners-up in Pool C while the unbeaten UOE topped Pool A, having qualified last weekend. Machine beat bottom-placed Kabarak University 25-07 to ensure a place in the last eight.<\/p>\n
