Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Zanzibar-bound Nairobi Water Queens and National Cereals and Produce Board posted easy wins in their Kenya Handball Federation league ties at Kaloleni grounds.<\/p>\n

The two giants are using the matches to prepare for the December 4-11 East and Central Africa Club Championship show.<\/p>\n

Water Queens, who are also the reigning league and regional champions, crushed Rising Star 54-9 after racing to a 26-5 halftime scoreline.<\/p>\n

“Today we were focusing on minimizing turnovers and also gauging the skills of my players. I was happy we achieved something,” said coach Jack Ochieng.<\/p>\n

The champions are the only team with an unbeaten record having picked up a maximum of 26 points in 13 matches. NCPB were also too hot for bottom-placed Daystar University, beating them 53-15. They led 27-6 at halftime.<\/p>\n

Sheryl Atieno managed 10 goals and Susan Mabonga added nine for NCPB who moved to second place with 20 points. Millers coach Dan Eshikumo said, “I have noted just a few mistakes in our defence but we will work on it during the remaining days.”<\/p>\n

He said they expect to play at least a game or two before they finally travel for the event. They finished third last year. Diana Akinyi scored eight goals and Carolyne Chebet six as Nairobi City County dismissed New Hope 29-21.<\/p>\n

Florence Sangisa made the losers six. Rising Star, who have registered only one win, succumbed to a 42-17 defeat against Kenyatta University (KU) as Sheila Atsachi sunk eight goals. KU were lifted by Vivian Owano and Doris Odende who shot eight goals each while Celyne Waluke had seven.<\/p>\n

Daystar University also crashed 37-27 to Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. Esther Gathoni grabbed 13 for JKUAT as Meldone Akoth was good for the losers’ game-high of 15 goals.<\/p>\n

In the only men’s fixture, Kenyatta University did enough to beat JKUAT after a close 13-12 lead at the breather. Morgan Simiyu grabbed seven goals for KU while the Juja side replied through Dolan Bwibo who provided eight in that loss.<\/p>\n
