Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has said all county health officers will have their offices within the hospitals for proper supervision.<\/p>\n

The governor said the move will help in delivery services directly to hospitals.<\/p>\n

Natembeya said the offices should not be located more than five kilometres from hospitals.<\/p>\n

“In order to improve healthcare and service delivery, under my administration chief executive for Health, chief officer, director and senior medical officers will have their offices in hospitals for proper supervision and service delivery,” he said.<\/p>\n

Natembeya cautioned doctors against running their own private clinics to curb conflict of interest in service delivery.<\/p>\n

“No medical officer from Trans Nzoia county will be allowed to serve public hospital and attend to their own private clinics, they will have to choose one, either to serve Kenyans or run their private clinics,” he said.<\/p>\n

“If you have been employed by the government to a public hospital, stay there and work. We have more than 100 medical doctors but you can’t find them there because they are running there own businesses.”<\/p>\n

He said that he is also a civil servant and he has to go to the office everyday.<\/p>\n
