Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Prepare for hustler fund ahead of its launch on December 1 by President William Ruto, ICT CS Eliud Owalo has told Nyanza residents.<\/p>\n

Owalo said the community must position themselves towards the national government, to benefit from low hanging fruits and long-term developments.<\/p>\n

He spoke in Muhoroni on Friday when he led the distribution of government relief food to residents of Koru.<\/p>\n

The CS said the fund will unlock a number of opportunities for youth and women and uplift the welfare of people within the region.<\/p>\n

He said youths within the region are jobless not because thy have not gone to school but are in dire need of funds to start something for themselves and earn a living.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe even have women who are gifted in business but the problem is that they don\u2019t have capital to start,\u201d Owalo said.<\/p>\n

The CS however said those interested in the fund must put structures in place to benefit once it is rolled out by the President.<\/p>\n

He said nobody should find fault with the fund since it is a national government project, that was pledged by the President during the electioneering period.<\/p>\n

Former Kisumu senator Fred Outa who accompanied the CS said Ruto means well for the community as he calls for a break from the mental capture.<\/p>\n

Outa said the new administration has a five-year mandate that can be prolonged in an election in the year 2027 and it is prudent for the community to board the ship.<\/p>\n

\u201cElection is over, let\u2019s not take much of our time discussing politics, but let us embrace the new government and seek for development,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Outa added that he has his foot in the government not for selfish gain but to push for the development of the region, which is endowed with good agricultural land.<\/p>\n

\u201cSugarcane industry and rice farming remains the mainstay of residents,\u201d Outa said as he asked the government to revive the sector, which has the potential to economically empower the region.<\/p>\n

Other leaders who accompanied the CS included former Migori and Kisumu governors Okoth Obado and Jack Ranguma respectively and a host of former MPs.<\/p>\n

The leaders called for a united community to propel their bargaining power in getting the national cake, for the benefit of the entire community.<\/p>\n

This was the second leg of food distribution in the region having first covered Homa Bay, Migori, Kisumu and Siaya subcounties.<\/p>\n

A set of subcounties are lined up for the second disbursement in Muhoroni, Gem and Bondo.<\/p>\n
