Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga has warned that Mt Kenya region will not be undermined in the Kenya Kwanza coalition.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of CECs, Kahiga warned that insincerity has started to manifest itself in the ruling coalition, as witnessed during EALA elections.<\/p>\n

The Governor lifted the lid on behind the scene manoeuvres during election of Kenyan representatives to East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).<\/p>\n

He said the deceit in Kenya Kwanza made Mt Kenya UDA MPs elect former Kieni MP Kanini Kega to EALA despite him being from rival Azimio-One Kenya Coalition.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to say that we will walk this journey together if possible. But we want to make it clear we have not been married by anyone who thinks that they can solely decide to take us here or there.\u201d<\/p>\n

He further warned that partners in Kenya Kwanza should not take Mt Kenya region for granted.<\/p>\n

Kahiga said Mt Kenya Kenya Kwanza leaders will keep supporting their own even if they are in the Opposition should partners continue to be deceitful.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is very early in this marriage but we want say that the signs are very telling,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Kega was one of the nine contestants elected to represent Kenya in the Arusha-based Assembly.<\/p>\n

He garnered 197 votes to join Winnie Odinga, Suleiman Shahbal and Kennedy Kalonzo as the representatives of the Azimio Coalition.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua revealed that he lobbied Kenya Kwanza lawmakers from Mt Kenya to vote for Kega.<\/p>\n

While addressing mourners in Tharaka Nithi County, the DP disclosed that he supported Kega despite his political affiliation to prove that he had forgiven his opponents.<\/p>\n

Gachagua also insisted on uniting the Mt Kenya region as he sought to succeed former President Uhuru Kenyatta as the region’s kingpin.<\/p>\n
