Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The body of a Kenya woman who died a month ago in Lebanon in suspicious circumstances has finally arrived home for burial. Family members in Kiomiti, Masaba South, in Kisii County, said officers from Kenya consulate in Beirut chipped in after a distress appeal for help in the media.<\/p>\n

“Yes the body of my daughter is finally home and I want to thank the media for your coverage,” said Vane Kemunto, the mother.<\/p>\n

Kemunto’s daughter, Edna Kemunto Njoga, 22 died October 25, in Mt Lebanon, 45 miles from the capital Beirut after an alleged fall from the house. She sustained injuries leading to a temporary hospital stay before she passed on.<\/p>\n

She had finished a year as a house servant with a family before the incident. Last week the family said it was yet to be briefed the circumstances that led to her death.<\/p>\n

They want it investigated and action taken. “Up to now the details are still scanty and we want the government to assist unravel the death of my daughter,” the mother told journalists in their Kiomiti home.<\/p>\n

The daughter was initially said to had been seduced to travel to the foreign country by her boyfriend. The boyfriend who is at home has since gone into hiding.<\/p>\n

The mother said the daughter secretly left Kenya in November 2021 during the memorial service of her father at home never to be seen until she was brought home in a coffin.<\/p>\n

“After that we lost touch of each other. Without communication we kept searching silently for across the villages but in vain,” she said.<\/p>\n

She accused the boyfriend of lying to her that she had gotten a job in Kisii. “I only learnt my daughter was no more after the boyfriend’s mother called in to inform me,” she said.<\/p>\n

Gesusu Ward Rep Anthony Kerage has since weighed in to call for investigations into the death. He said several Kenyans in the middle east are being killed in suspicious circumstances as they go about eking a living.<\/p>\n

” As a leader I join the family in asking that the government intervenes to help them bring the body home,” he told journalists.<\/p>\n
