Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kabras Sugar are almost ready for their Kenya Cup season-opener against Catholic Monks on November 26, assistant coach Carlos Katywa has said.<\/p>\n

Katywa said there are some aspects of their game they need to work on before they can declare themselves good to go.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur preparations are not yet there but I believe we are progressing in the right direction. However, I think there is quite a little bit to do,\u201d Katywa said, adding that the pre-season has had several ups and downs but they manouvred around the same.<\/p>\n

In a friendly match against Harlequins on Saturday, Kabras fell 24-35 but Katywa believes this was key in identifying their flaws and areas to work on.<\/p>\n

Katywa said he is keen on more matches against top-level sides.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am excited we got this game because we are able to identify some of our challenges. We would have wanted more games like this, against opponents playing on the same level. It was a bit difficult to play teams in the national division,\u201d Katywa said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had become complacent, thinking that every department on our side was sorted. We had not been challenged enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Katywa expressed his excitement towards the team saying they are a promising lot, adding that it would have a mistake to go into the season without playing fellow Kenya Cup teams in pre-season.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very happy with the calibre of players we have and the outcome of this team. It would have been a big blunder going into the season without playing any teams. It is evident that our players needed this. Next is Kenya Cup itself and we shall take it from there and work hard,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n
