Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Five teams will feature in the Deaf Football Federation of Kenya (DFFK) play-off finals set for December 2 at the University of Nairobi.<\/p>\n

According to the fixtures released by DFFK, the teams have been drawn from the five regions thus Metropolitan, Nyanza, Rift valley, Coast and Western.<\/p>\n

Eastleigh will be representing the hosts Metropolitan, Bison (Nyanza), Flamingo (Rift Valley), Pirates (Coast) and Sukari (Western).<\/p>\n

DFFK President Stephen Waweru hopes the current event will generate a lot of interest and hopes to have many teams on board in 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is time to create awareness and prove that Individuals can play football. We are hoping that come 2023, there will be more clubs to join the deaf football league.”<\/p>\n

Each team is expected to play four matches with two fields being used for the championships. In the opening matches, Eastleigh will take on Bison in Field A as Sukari play Flamingo in Field B.<\/p>\n

He said DFFK will compete in World Deaf Football in Malaysia in September next year.<\/p>\n

” We are, therefore, planning to have national trials in April to pick a team for the Malaysia showpiece. The league will help us identify the most improved players from all clubs before selecting the final squad,” said Waweru.<\/p>\n

He said they have a share of their challenges considering they have no league sponsor hence they are struggling financially. \u201cWe are appealing to cooperate sponsors to come to our rescue,\u201d added Waweru.<\/p>\n
