Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kenya, South Korea are exploring cooperation in digitisation of government services, records and processes, Information Communications and Digital Economy CS Eliud Owalo has said.<\/p>\n

Owalo said the two countries will further partner in expanding the digital superhighway by 100,000 kilometres in the next 10 years.<\/p>\n

He said Kenya is committed to establishing 25,000 free digital hotspots in marketplaces and connecting all public institutions, schools, and hospitals to the national digital superhighway.<\/p>\n

He said this would be achieved through public funding and cooperation with private partners.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe see this as an opportunity for further exploration and cooperation between our country and the Republic of Korea,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Owalo made the remarks on Wednesday during the 2022 International Conference on Economic Innovation Partnership Programme (EIPP) in South Korea.<\/p>\n

Present at the event were officials from Korea\u2019s Ministry of Economy and Finance, Korea Development Institute (KDI), Ministry of Technology and Industry, Hungary and economic cooperation partner member countries (Indonesia and Uzbekistan).<\/p>\n

Owalo hailed the close to six decades of mutually beneficial cooperation between Kenya and the Republic of Korea.<\/p>\n

\u201cI equally praise Korea\u2019s support to Konza Technopolis, and especially building of the forthcoming KAIST University at Konza,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Cabinet Secretary said the EIPP is one of the many policy and technical consultation programmes that continue to strengthen the ties between Korea and Kenya.<\/p>\n

\u201cI acknowledge, with much appreciation, the development support Kenya has enjoyed from the government of Korea support towards the development of Kenya\u2019s Konza Technopolis Project,\u201dhe said.<\/p>\n

He said the generous support from Korea has enabled Konza Technopolis to initiate processes for the establishment of various key projects in the advancement of digital technology in Kenya.<\/p>\n
