Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>ODM leader Raila Odinga and Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka are among the dignitaries at the hearing of the petition seeking the ouster of the IEBC Four.<\/p>\n

The IEBC officials at the centre of the petition are Juliana Cherera (vice chairperson), Irene Masit, Francis Wanderi and Justus Nyangaya.<\/p>\n

The commissioners openly differed with chairman Wafula Chebukati and two other commissioners over the August 2022 presidential vote tallying and final results.<\/p>\n

The four, in what exposed the deep rift at the electoral agency, did not own the results that gave William Ruto victory in the face-off with Azimio\u2019s Raila Odinga.<\/p>\n

Raila and Kalonzo were accompanied by Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua and Azimio Communications director Makau Mutua during the Thursday hearing.<\/p>\n

The Justice and Legal Affairs Committee chaired by Tharaka MP Gitonga Murugara is meeting the first petitioner – a representative of the Republican Liberty Party.<\/p>\n

Party is represented by Kennedy Mongare accompanied by members of the party’s national chairman Zachary Momanyi.<\/p>\n

Advocates for the commissioners are Jotham Arua for Justus Nyangaya, Donald Kipkorir for Irene Masit, Danstan Omari and Apollo Mboya for Juliana Cherera, and Gichamba (confirm) for Francis Wanderi.<\/p>\n

The National Assembly\u2019s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee scheduled hearings with the four petitioners pushing for their removal starting Thursday.<\/p>\n

The committee began with submissions from the petitioner on behalf of the Republican Liberty Party.<\/p>\n

It will thereafter cross-examine the petitioner before hearing the petition by Dennis Nthumbi \u2013 who will also be cross-examined by members of the committee.<\/p>\n

Petitioners Geoffrey Langat and Owuor Gerry are scheduled to make their submissions on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Commissioners Cherera and Masit are lined up to face the committee on Monday, November 28, to respond to the petitions.<\/p>\n

Wanderi and Nyang’aya will respond to the allegations touching on them on Tuesday, November 29.<\/p>\n
