Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Economic Planning PS Saitoti Torome has launched the second round of the 10-year scenario building and foresights planning in a bid to implement Agenda 2063 goals.<\/p>\n

The launch took place in Nairobi’s safari park hotel where guests from various countries were in attendance. Representative from African Union Development Agency were also present.<\/p>\n

The training will take place for 2 days to until Friday. Agenda 2063 is Africa\u2019s blueprint and a strategic framework that aims to actualize the Continent\u2019s goal for inclusive and sustainable development. It is a concrete manifestation of the pan-Africanism and drive for unity, self-determination, freedom and the urge for collective posterity.<\/p>\n

“The Agenda is a refocus by African leaders to reprioritize Africa\u2019s critical social-economic development, continental and regional integration, democratic governance, peace and security amongst other issues, “Saitoti said.<\/p>\n

The First Ten Year Implementation Plan of the Agenda 2063 that spans 2014 to 2023, comes to an end next year. The implementation plan will run till 2063 in 10-year periods.<\/p>\n

Saitoti said that this brings an opportunity for Africa to outline a set of goals, priority areas and targets the continent will seek to achieve at national, regional and continental levels over the next ten years.<\/p>\n

The African Union Development Agency -NEPAD and African Union Commission has already initiated the journey for the preparation of the Second Ten Year Implementation Plan.<\/p>\n

“I am happy to note that this training launch session provides us with an opportunity to interrogate and appreciate the achievements of the Agenda\u2019s First Ten Year Implementation Plan, gauge it against our existing resources, then lay strategies for the next cycle of the Ten Year Plan, ” Saitoti said.<\/p>\n

Saitoti called to make observations of current and historic trend, build alternative situations and problems to help project future situation. The training will help countries develop focus for managing possibilities for better results by navigating uncertainties, risk and constraints, and develop realistic strategies.<\/p>\n

Though Africa has 55 member states, only 22 are part of the program. Saitoti called for more countries to join the Agenda 2063. The scenarios building and foresights approach will also bring out regularized reporting on progress in the implementation of Agenda 2063 across countries.<\/p>\n

Saitoti pointed out that the Continent still needs to deal with the data gaps and uniformity in measurement systems. “In view of this, I would expect AUDA-NEPAD to take into consideration, setting of realistic outcomes and targets that match the Aspirations objectives and goals,” Saitoti said.<\/p>\n

Saitoti said the move would make interpretation of results and even expected outcome of scenarios easier. “We will be expecting feedback from the participants including effectiveness and applicability of the training knowledge to the Continents planning context, ” Saitoti said.<\/p>\n
