Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has hit back at President William Ruto over the ongoing process to remove four IEBC commissioners from office.<\/p>\n

Junet said Ruto should focus on emerging issues affecting the country instead of settling political scores.<\/p>\n

“The country experiencing unprecedented drought and hunger, millions of children out of school, millions of young people out of work, crimes surging in urban areas,” he said.<\/p>\n

The president had on Friday said the four IEBC commissioners whom he described as ‘rogue’ must be held to account.<\/p>\n

ODM leader Raila Odinga had on Thursday claimed that Ruto was being vindictive by pushing for the removal of the four IEBC bosses.<\/p>\n

But Ruto said the commissioners must be held to account for trying to subvert the democratic will of the people.<\/p>\n

“The lords of impunity, who destroyed oversight institutions using the handshake fraud, should allow parliament to hold rogue officials who put the nation in danger by subverting the democratic will of the people to be held to account. New order is RULE of LAW not wishes of big men,” he said.<\/p>\n

The commissioners are Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi, Justus Nyang’aya and Irene Masit.<\/p>\n

The four did not own the results that gave William Ruto victory in the face-off with Azimio\u2019s Raila Odinga.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Azimio La Umoja MPs walked out of the hearing, led by Minority Leader Junet Mohamed.<\/p>\n

The Legislators said the committee of Justice and Legal Affairs has no jurisdiction to prosecute the petitions.<\/p>\n

Raila and Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka attended the hearing<\/p>\n

Parliament will today embark on day two of the hearing.<\/p>\n
