Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>As they prepare to follow up on their superb form in this season’s opening game, Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry is optimistic.<\/p>\n

A narrow 1-0 win over Nzoia Sugar at Nyayo Stadium last Saturday got the team’s campaign off to a good start.<\/p>\n

The record champions travel to Thika Stadium to face Bidco United in their second match of the season with McKinstry predicting a second win on the bounce.<\/p>\n

High spirits have been evident in camp and the Irishman hopes the morale shown in training will carry over into the team’s second game.<\/p>\n

“The week went well and following the last game, the boys have recovered well,” McKinstry said.<\/p>\n

“It has been a solid week of training and everyone is looking good. Preparations have been smooth leading up to the Bidco game,” he added.<\/p>\n

Philemon Otieno, the captain, believes the team will improve in the new season after finding a shirt sponsor.<\/p>\n

“As a team, we have had a good preparation so far and all the players are ready to commit and ensure the team gets good results,” Otieno said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been a challenge for us for the last few years, but thank God, the players who came from the youth team seem up to the task,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Otieno said he was pleased with the quality shown by the youth promoted from the academy side.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are trying to motivate them to play as well as the senior players. With the right attitude, I think they will do well. We have everything we need now. In the past, there were money issues but now that we are organized I think it is a motivation for us.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you know, we are used to being number one in the league and we are gradually getting back to where we were. We just need to score goals and everything will be fine.<\/p>\n

Coastal side Bandari will try to replicate the form they showed in their 2-1 victory against Sofapaka at Mbaraki Sports Club last Sunday when they face Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma. Sofapaka hopes to bounce back from their slow start when they host Posta Rangers at the Kasarani Annex stadium in Nairobi.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, KCB will clash with Kakamega Homeboyz at the Kasarani Annex stadium while Kariobangi Sharks will settle the scores with Ulinzi Stars later in the second match organized at the stadium.<\/p>\n

Champions Tusker have a tough job in their next assignment against Nairobi City Stars at Moi Stadium, Kasarani.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, AFC Leopards suffered a major blow after their midfielder Musa Saad broke his ankle in their season opener against Ulinzi Stars last Saturday.<\/p>\n

Leopards announced that the creative midfielder, who provided the assist in their 2-0 win at Ulinzi Sports Complex, will be sidelined for six weeks.ReplyForward<\/p>\n
