Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>City businessman Tim Kipchumba has rejected the UDA nomination results for Elgeyo Marakwet Senate by-election.<\/p>\n

The politician, said on Twitter, that the United Democratic Alliance primaries held on Saturday were not free and fair.<\/p>\n

“Thank you you Elgeyomarakwet! Thanks to our team and fellow aspirants! We articulated a better vision. But the UDA primaries, even as well intended to be Free and Fair by H.E @WilliamsRuto were marked by countless irregularities. We\u2019ll issue statement soon!” he Twitted.<\/p>\n

Immediate former Marakwet West MP William Kisang was declared the winner of the senatorial primaries.<\/p>\n

Kisang garnered 28,126 votes ahead of his rivals Kipchumba and Jonah Tanui who garnered 26,756 and 26,735 votes respectively.<\/p>\n

Kisang celebrated the results although his rivals rejected the outcome claiming massive irregularities.<\/p>\n

“I thank God for the victory and am happy that the will of the people has prevailed,” Kisang said.<\/p>\n

Nicodemus Bore who was returning officer declared Kisang the winner and was issued the party certificate.<\/p>\n

With UDA being the most dominant party in the region, Kisang is a step ahead likely to be elected Senator in by-elections to be held on January 5, 2023.<\/p>\n

The by-election was occasioned by the resignation of CS for Roads Kipchumba Murkomen who had been elected on August 9, but quit after being appointed by President William Ruto.<\/p>\n
