Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Ken Biegon carded 40 Stableford points to win the fifth series of the Kenya Seed Golf Tournament at the nine-hole Kericho Golf Club over the weekend.<\/p>\n

Playing on home course, Biegon edged out over 100 golfers who teed off in the green county of Kericho.<\/p>\n

He beat Nicholas Tanui with just a shot while another home player, Elizabeth Ng\u2019eny, took home the overall Lady winners\u2019 prize with 34 points.<\/p>\n

Biegon, playing off handicap 24, said he had had intense training and worked hard too to star at home.<\/p>\n

“I feel motivated and ready to continue working hard since this is my first prize this year,” said Biegon.<\/p>\n

Jacob Kaibei (handicap 14) and captain David Biegon (7) were Division ‘A’ winners with 36 points each while Tobias Messo (20) and Ben Rotich (17) were Division ‘B’ winners with 37 and 36 points respectively.<\/p>\n

Division ‘C’ category was won by handicap 30 player Dan Njibule with 39 points followed by handicap 39 Kipkurui Korir with 34 points.<\/p>\n

Staff winner went to handicap 24 golfer Leonard Kibet who garnered 29 points while Parminder Hunjan and Sammy Chepkonga were first and second nine winners after carding 19 and 20 points apiece.<\/p>\n

David was on the podium again to receive the longest drive title in the men’s category while Dorcas Bett was the Lady winner. The Nearest to pin title was won by Leonard Bett.<\/p>\n

Kenya Seed head of communication Jane Gitau said: \u201cThe rampant faking of seeds has been on the rise and the company in partnership with Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) have come with measures to tame the menace by having lot numbers and sticker labels for seed packets.”<\/p>\n
