Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Moischers beat Clique Mambas 69-52 to take a 2-0 series lead in the 2022 Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) finals.<\/p>\n

The winners, so far unbeaten in the league, will clinch the title if they win one more game in the best-of-five series.<\/p>\n

The ever dangerous Jeff ‘Leftie’ Onyango, who scored 40 points in Game One bagged 29 in this encounter. Wycliffe Rayasi picked up 14 as Kevin Apollo 13.<\/p>\n

Moischers coach Peninnah Nthenya said she is optimistic her charges will carry the day and win the championship.<\/p>\n

“We have worked really hard this year,” Nthenya said. “It has been a step-by-step growth and our goal is to win the championship. I expect competition from Clique Mambas but we are coming in as hard as they come.”<\/p>\n

Mambas were pepped by Alex Nzuki, who recorded 17 points while Aila recorded another 10 as their top scorer Williams Onditi struggled. Rose Mshilla, the Mambas’ tactician said it’s not over and believes she will be able to push it to decisive Game Five.<\/p>\n

“We will try to make the adjustments. The defence was fairly good today because we managed to contain some of their top scorers, we just did not get any baskets.” She noted.<\/p>\n

In the women’s title race, Safe Spaces leads the series 2-1 after beating Stanbic Bank 45-37 in Game Three. The winners took a 21-16 advantage at the break. The bankers put up a fight and took the last 13-9 but they still fell short.<\/p>\n

“It’s not over. Stanbic is a tough team so we have to train harder on our defence and scoring so that we can emerge winners,” Nthenya said.<\/p>\n

“I will thank God for the gift if I win both championships.”<\/p>\n

Sarah Aparo tallied 13 points and Florence Mbithe added 11 for the winners, who need a win this weekend to crown it.<\/p>\n
