Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>IEBC Vice chair Julian Cherera has climbed down from her earlier position that the committee handling her ouster petition has no jurisdiction over the matter.<\/p>\n

Cherera through her lawyer Apollo Mboya said they will abide by the committee ruling that the matter is properly within the House team’s mandate.<\/p>\n

Last week, Cherera’s legal team walked out in protest after the JLAC chairman George Gitonga ruled that the committee has jurisdiction to listen to both the petitioners and the Commissioners.<\/p>\n

Azimio principals Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka who attended the last week’s sitting had told the Commissioners not to honour the invitation to appear before the Committee.<\/p>\n

MPs led by Gitonga on Monday demanded that the lawyer come clear on their position on jurisdiction before he is granted an audience.<\/p>\n

Apollo told the committee that they will abide by the Committee’s ruling on jurisdiction.<\/p>\n

“The decision has been rendered and we are not going to raise any issue of jurisdiction further,” Apollo told the Committee.<\/p>\n

The petitions seek to remove from office Cherera, Commissioners Justus Nyanganya, Irine Masir and Francis Wanderi.<\/p>\n
